Positive Behaviour for Learning
At our school, we use Positive Behaviour for Learning – a whole-school approach for creating a positive, safe and supportive school climate where students can learn and develop. Our whole school community works together to establish expected behaviours and teach them to all students.

What is PBL?
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is an evidence-based whole school process to improve learning outcomes for all students. Forbes High School aims to provide a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) environment for all students at our school.
PBL purpose
The purpose of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is to:
- Address the diverse academic and social needs of every student to support them to be successful;
- Support students in early childhood settings through to senior years of schooling;
- Enable our school to establish a continuum of supports that are intensified to meet the needs of every student;
- Ensure it is team driven, using a problem solving approach (data, systems and practices) that engages students, parents and all school staff;
- Establish positive social expectations for all in the school community; and
- Provide a framework for the school and its community to collectively support the wellbeing of every student.
School Matrix
Forbes High School ensures that all students and staff understand and are aware of our expectations and values whilst at school.

Classroom expectations
Our school community is supported with classroom expectations to ensure all learning environments at Forbes High School have consistent and positive teaching and learning environments for our students and teachers everyday.

Acknowledgment program
Forbes High School values the positive approach to learning students undertake on a daily basis. As part of our school approach to Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) we have an acknowledgement program to recognise and reward the academic achievement, school participation and positive learning students display everyday in our school.
This program is aimed to ensure that all students regardless of skill or ability have the potential to be publicly acknowledged and recognised for sustained effort in student behaviour and social skills.
Students are acknowledged through a variety of ways. These include;
Weekly- Canteen voucher purple slips awarded to students weekly.
- Each term- Winners are drawn at the need of each term and are acknowledged and rewarded.
Semester recognition- This occurs twice a year as a whole group reward and acknowledgement.
